Greg on Soundcloud: Electronic Comment by jimmy-100Īnother brilliant interpretation. Luke Richardson - Bass Guitar, Organs, Synthesizers, Vocals, Chimes, Drum Machine & Drum Programming The chimes are a sample of me playing on one of my old recordings, as I didn't have them with me either. ![]() The "real" drums are unfortunately programmed as I had no access to my drums, but everything else aside from the actual drum machine is played fully by hand. They used mostly transistor organs for the keyboard parts, so I tried to be authentic, but unlike them I used my ARP Odyssey for the synth lines, as it was a good opportunity. It's "Enola Gay" by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, a No.8 UK hit in 1980 for them. Also I've played this tune in a marching band for years so it became a bit of a joke that it would always be played. I chose this song because it was a new exciting listen for me, and I didn't have to plan ahead what I wanted to record this time I could just start straight away. I worked on this one during the quarantine period of 2020.I bought some recording stuff to fill the time, and so this is my first completely solo recording since I was in college. 'Enola Gay' is a song by British synthpop band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (normally abbreviated to OMD).
